Mall to Mall.
Last Sunday, after playing with the Wii set at my friend's house for about 2 hours,(yes, my friends and I were THAT BORED.) six other friends and I got even more bored and became AMBITIOUS enough to decide to go to Orchard road.We decided to take the
risk
and let my dear friend, Jeremy, drive. The other 6 of us suddenly became very religious
as we waited for him to get his car.J When we got into the car, I almost fainted. It STINKED of Ralph Lauren Cologne. YUCK. Anyway, we endured the stink all the way to Orchird road in the stuffy, black MPV.Just as we arrived at Orchird road, we realized that it was A BAD idea to drive there on a weekend. The traffic was HORRENDOUS, but when we FINALLY reached the carpark, it took FOREVER to get a free parking lot. After what seemed like
ETERNITY, we got a parking
spot and made
our way into Cathay
Cineleisure. It was crowded, as ANYONE would have expected, so we were not able to get tickets for any movies that we were interested in. So we settled for HOW
TO
TRAIN
YOUR
DRAGON.( I lost my ticket so no pictures availableL)
At first
we thought "Ugh just another kiddy 3-D movie.." but AFTER the movie we were like " Hey it wasn't bad! Kinda silly,(obviously NOT the word we used)
but alright!" I think it had a somewhat high entertainment value. J
After that we decided that Cineleisure was way too crowded so we struggled, but eventually, made it out ALIVE!
Then, we decided to make our way to Tampines 1, where we had AWESOME burgers at Carl's Jr.My friend managed to munch down 2 SUPERSTAR BURGERS. That was INSANE. I couldn't even finish one. The best part was that we decided to abuse the free refills. J (we are innocent beings) We went shopping with our Carl's Jr drink cups and each time we felt thirsty, we snuck back into the fast food joint for a
REFILL! :D Anyway, I ended up buying a new wallet from Puma and a new pair of shoes from Skechers.
J
Actually I used to think that the shoes at Skechers were horribly ugly, but the more recent range of shoes is not bad, well they're actually quite nice. J
Anyway, I had tons of fun with my friends on that day, and this is definitely another COLOURFUL
MEMORY to add to my collection of memories. PEACE! J

MY PERSONAL RECOUNT
On the first day of my first Guides Learning Journey to Malacca, on 18th March 2010, I was very excited as Meena, Lois, Huda and I would be going overseas and sleeping in a hotel room together for the first time. All of those who signed up for this learning journey waited for the Guiders, or the teachers-in-charge, and the coach bus in front of the main school gate. My father, accompanied by my mother, drove me there. I was the first to arrive at 4.45am and so, I waited in the car for awhile. I did not realize the car of Huda's father was right behind my father's car.
Finally, after I saw quite a few people there, I came out of the car. I realized that almost every one of them either brought a huge sling bag or even a haversack each. I was the only one with a suitcase at that moment! I was a little embarrassed. Huda and I waited for Lois and Meena's arrival with excitement. We intended to sit together in the coach bus. I was relieved to see Lois with a suitcase too when she arrived! After everyone had arrived and had stuck a yellow sticker on their shirts, we boarded the bus. The bus left at around 5am. The secondary one and three guides, including the four of us, looked beat. The bus headed to Queensway Secondary to pick the group of girls up. Thereafter, it headed to the checkpoint where everyone had to get off the bus to go through the immigration and etcetera.
After that, everyone boarded the same bus again which headed for the Malaysian Immigration Checkpoint. We took all of our belongings along when we alighted. It was fun going through this immigration processes by myself for the first time. We waited for the Malaysian coach for about fifteen minutes after the immigration!
The bus driver, Mr Raja, would be our driver for the next three days. There was a tour guide in the bus too. They came from the same organization. The bus took us past the Malaysian-Singapore border and to a food court in Johor which was quite deserted. Only two stalls were available. The four of us didn't eat anything there as we noticed flies hovering above and on the food! We were disgusted. We shared food that we brought from home.
Soon after, all of us got on the coach again. We were then heading for MALACCA via the extremely long highway! It took about three or more hours to reach there! We were having singing sessions but most of the time, after the sessions, we were sleeping like never before. It was so boring! I woke up all of a sudden as I was too bored; I was restless! I decided to take photos and videos of Meena, who was sitting next to me. It was so hilarious that I kept laughing till I woke Meena up! After that nonsense, I fell asleep. Fortunately, the Cedar and Queensway guides did not have motion sickness. Oh, yes, of course, the bus stopped at certain resting points along the highway.
We arrived at Malacca after long hours of deep sleep! It was 12pm then. At Malacca, we went to the Salvation Army Home to do our CIP work. Meena, Huda, Lois and I have really bonded well during those three hours of CIP! We did an AWESOME job in weeding half of an area needed to be weeded! It was tiring yet fun! It was like a 'bonding session' for the four of us. After that, we went to a room of down-syndrome people who were there to teach those who wanted to learn how to make a rug. We totally enjoyed it. It has taught me not to discriminate down-syndrome people as they can still learn something despite their disabilities. The four of us found some of them 'cute and friendly' towards us. Since we had paid 10 ringgit for the lesson, we got to keep our work and the knitting tool! It was really enjoyable!
Thereafter, we went to bus to go for a short city tour of Malacca. It was not much fun as the tour guide stated that Malacca has to be enjoyed on foot. We just visited the city on the bus. Finally, the long-awaited part of the day when all of us get into our hotel rooms had arrived! It was 6pm. The hotel was the 'Straits Meridian Hotel'. As we came here for CIP and other reasonable reasons, the hotel was not a 5-star hotel but a 3-star hotel. The room was not nice at all especially the washroom! But we still appreciated the fact that the four of us get to sleep together for the first time! All of us walked down to the Conference Room to conduct Inter-unit competitions; Cedar, Northland, Queensway, Siglap and Ngee Ann Secondary guides competed amongst each other. The games were fun and it ended off with a debrief with Mdm Zetty and Mdm Rachel Tan, the guiders of Cedar guides.
After the tiring day, all of us bathed except for Meena! She was too lazy to bathe; she just wore her pyjamas! We stayed up in our room for a few minutes, eating, drinking and watching the television before sleeping although it was 11.30pm at night! We laughed when we saw Huda's pyjamas; Meena thought it was so funny that she laughed the hardest. I think I would better not tell what pyjamas she wore! You should ask her, not me, if you want to know. Finally, we slept at 12.11am…

23th December 2009
Today, at 6am, my family and I went to Bugis to board the bus to Genting. Upon reaching there, we report to the person in charge there and he registered our names on the paper before letting us board the bus. When we boarded the bus, I took out my MP4 and listened to songs while my brother was reading a storybook. After a few hours, at about 12pm, we reached Genting. We went to get our hotel room and left our bags there before going to eat lunch. The dinner was very delicious and I took three helpings.
After eating lunch, my brother and I went to play computer games for a few hours and we went to the arcade to play arcade games while my father and mother went to the casino to try their luck. After that, we went for dinner and after that, we went to watch a midnight movie called "Kong Fu Panda" and after the movie my family and I went back to the hotel room to sleep. The next day, after our breakfast, we went to the outdoors indoors theme park to play. My family and I do not need to pay for the tickets as we have a membership card that allows free access to any games in the indoor and outdoor theme park. We went to watch the 4D movie, played the bumper cars, sat the roller coaster and also the monorail. However, when we going to sit the reindeer, I climbed over the metal railings and as a result, I tripped over the metal railings and landed on my smallest toe and caused the toe bone to crack. It was very painful and I also cried out loud in public. After the fall, I cannot even walk on both of my legs. However, because of the fall; I got to eat my favorite ice cream. After that my family and I went to eat lunch and my brother and I went into Snow City to play. However, I do not enjoy it at all as the snow there was very dirty and hard and my feet also hurt a lot. Besides, it is also very cold inside and my spectacles immediately turned blurred once I came out of the room. We also went to the disc shop to buy some discs home and I was very happy as there was a lot of anime inside and it was sold quite cheap. I bought three anime discs and we went to eat our dinner at a buffet restaurant where it sold a lot of cuisines. After dinner, we went to take some pictures and we went to buy some sweets. After that, we went back to the hotel room to sleep.
The next morning, after we had took our breakfast; we went back to Singapore on a coach bus. This trip was a very memorable trip as it was my first time going there and getting injured. I hope to go there during my June holidays as it was very fun and interesting.

In all of my 'colorful' memories, the best one is on 25/1/2007. It was on my tenth birthday and was one of the most memorable events of my life. It all began on a Sunday morning.
On that day, I woke up, aware that it was my tenth birthday but not aware of the surprise waiting for me. After breakfast, my father decided to drive to a few shops to search for a suitable birthday gift for me. That was when I realized that we were driving towards a harbor with a big cruise ship docked beside. I asked my parents if we were allowed to board it a take a look of the interior of it. That was when I realized that they had already booked the tickets and it was a birthday treat for me. Yes, I was overjoyed and excitement was rolling over me in waves.
The first thing we did was to have lunch. It was the most sumptuous meal I ever had! The desserts and fried food were unhealthy but at least they were delicious! I ate till I could not stuff anymore in.
However, what I thought was the most perfect day of my life scarred me for the rest of my life. Well, after lunch, I was running on a wet deck with my brother and I slipped and fell flat on my face. My forehead hit the ground and started to bleed. As I was still immature, I thought that I was going to die (as that always happens in movies) and started crying loudly. My parents raced me to the sick bay on the ship and I got bandages on both my forehead and knee. I was comforted and told by my parents that I was not going to die and should calm down.
After the incident, I was brought to our cabin to rest. I was told to sleep but since there was a computer in the same room, I played with it the whole afternoon. Since we were only there for 1 night, we did not have any luggage so the room was quite spacious. I did not know that while I was totally engrossed into my computer gaming, my family was preparing my birthday gifts.
I was so oblivious to my surroundings that I could not even hear my mother when she called for me to have dinner. She was obviously angry that I played computer for the whole afternoon, which was bad for my eyes and my injuries, but just game me a stern warning as it was my birthday. We had buffet for dinner and ate my birthday cake as well.
When we got back to the cabin, I opened my presents and found all kinds of wonderful stuffs. I got a new mobile phone from my father, a new blouse and skirt from my mother and a drawing from my brother. (I still could not make up what it was until now) I was really tired but happy at the end of the day. But mostly, I felt lucky to have such a great family.

Last Friday, 2/4/10, my cousin came to my house and we painted Easter eggs to be given out in her church. It was so FUN! At first, I made a mess and all the eggs I painted were ugly, but with my cousin's help, I managed to paint them properly.Labels: Xiang Lan
